D2OL - Distributed Computer
The Drug Design Optimization Lab is a distributed computing project to
help find cures for diseases such as bird flu and anthrax. It uses
thousands of individuals' computers to "fold" proteins. All you have to
do is
download the D2OL
program and it runs in the background without slowing your work down.
D2OL takes advantage of the
fact most computers aren't using all of their computational power all
the time. Whenever the load on your computer is low, D2OL
uses this extra computing power to help find cures for deadly diseases.
The only cost to you is a little bit of
effort and on average about an extra quarter every month on your
electric bill. Who knows, it might even save your life one day.
If you want, you can join a team and compete
to be number one. I'm on the
www.rojakpot.com team called Team ARP, you can find more
information
here.
